Founder Story

Built from Experience, Rooted in People, Focused on Impact

Hi, I’m Rafael Canaca, founder of Spot On TLNT. I’m the oldest of three siblings, raised in a close-knit family where values like commitment, humility, and empathy were part of daily life. My background is rooted in a blend of diverse cultures and experiences that shaped the way I see business and people.

My journey into recruiting wasn’t traditional. I started out in biomedical engineering, then pivoted into business management, eager to learn how organizations really worked. I took on my first job in the BPO industry and quickly discovered a passion for people—specifically, for how the right person in the right role could transform a business.

I volunteered (without pay!) to learn everything I could about recruiting, showing up from early morning into the late night between shifts. That decision opened the door to a career I didn’t know I was building. From phone screening resumes to helping launch new offices, to becoming a senior recruiter managing cross-site strategies, every step was earned through effort, curiosity, and a deep respect for the people I worked with.

Later, I moved into IT recruiting for the US market, where I had the opportunity to work remotely and learn from incredible mentors who taught me the value of precision, transparency, and strategic partnership. We recruited senior technical talent for enterprise clients, and I developed a deep understanding of how to align business needs with human potential.

In 2021, I co-founded a recruiting firm that focused heavily on the technical space. But something kept pulling me back. I knew there were already a lot of great opportunities in tech—but far fewer for non-technical professionals. I wanted to change that. I wanted to build a company that brought visibility, value, and global reach to talent in customer service, operations, sales, marketing, design, and more.

That’s why I started Spot On TLNT.

What I Believe:

Spot On TLNT is more than a hiring service. It’s a commitment to building real, human-centered partnerships. To helping companies grow strategically without overspending. To giving Latin American professionals access to career paths that empower them to plan for the future—not just survive the present.

I see each client as a partner. I’m in the field with them, listening, strategizing, adjusting. I see every consultant as a person with dreams, pressure, and purpose. That perspective drives everything we do.

I believe that human-centric companies will lead in a world shaped by AI. Tech should complement our work, not define it—especially in B2B services, where trust and communication are everything.

Outside of Work:

I’m an introverted extrovert—energized by connection, grounded by solitude. In my free time, you’ll find me doing CrossFit or running (a journey that’s reshaped how I approach life and business), hiking through nature, diving into books, or playing video games. I’m curious by nature and driven by growth.

I also believe deeply in faith, family, and empathy. My dog, my loved ones, and my connection to something bigger than myself help me stay grounded. One quote I live by is: “Be curious, not judgmental.” It shapes how I lead, hire, and connect.
